Attenders of the British Chess Championships all pulled together at the weekend to help raise funds for MND. My 'Tour de France inspired' competition offered something different for players, organisers and spectators alike; indeed a welcome few minutes to stretch the legs and get pulses racing!Whether competing for the individual Green and Polka Dot Jerseys, or going all out for the overall Yellow and White Jerseys, the level of competitiveness, not to mention the determination shown, was quite incredible! Participants spanning 6 to 78 years old were all willing to jump on the bike for my cause, many of whom had some memory of my Dad to share.
Thanks must go to Sarah, a friend, who gave up her weekend to help run the competition. Also to the ECF for allowing me to attend the Championships, the University of Kent for providing the equipment, and of course the BCM, Evans Cycles and Halfords for donating the prizes. It really was a 'team' effort.

This sounds like a wonderful way of drumming up support. Wish I had thought of it!
